I provide therapy services to individuals, couples, and families.

As a couple and family therapist, I will often view each individual’s problems in the context of their relationships, past and present. Our work together will focus on achieving your own personal, therapeutic goals. My role is to provide a safe and supportive environment where each client can attain a deeper self-understanding and gain the tools to achieve and enhance personal growth and greater quality of life in relationship to oneself and others. My approach is direct yet gentle. I may also utilize mindfulness-based approaches to enhance self-awareness and self-compassion skills. It is the hope that we will discover your strengths, develop your sense of empowerment and resilience, as well as tap into healthy and productive coping skills.

The areas where I provide support for clients may include, personal growth and development, anxiety and depression, relationship enhancement, and life-transition challenges.

Individuals

Turning points occur as we enter new life stages at any age, grow and change in relationships, and manage personal and professional challenges. The hope is to help individuals make positive changes in their lives and relationships by exploring difficult emotions, unhelpful thought patterns, or ways of relating with others that are no longer working. My goal is to help you navigate life’s inevitable changes and challenges with intention and clarity, so you can make choices for yourself from a place of awareness and compassion.

Couples

An intimate relationship can be both the most rewarding and the most challenging area of life. As each partner evolves and lives shift into different stages, it can be difficult to maintain a strong supportive connection through the transitions.

Research shows that within three years after the birth of a baby, approximately two out of three couples will experience a significant drop in relationship quality and have a dramatic increase in conflict and hostility. Couples therapy provides dedicated, focused time, and attention to the health of the relationship. I offer a safe and supportive space for couples to explore and process the challenges that are stressing their connection.

Incorporating skills and techniques from evidence-based practices such as the Gottman Method and mindful, self-compassion strategies, I help couples better understand themselves in relation to each other. We can uncover family of origin factors, potentially destructive patterns, reveal deeper feelings, and take ownership of our contributions to the relationship, positive and negative. Together, couples can develop and work with relevant tools for managing conflict and build their friendship and intimacy for a deeper, more stable, and satisfying connection.

Families

I typically like to meet with the parents and child(ren), and/or other family members involved together for the first session, in order to learn more about the needs of the family, the family system, relevant intergenerational issues, and relational dynamics. I may find it helpful to meet with certain family members in sessions as well.
